Wally

Animal Assisted Therapy

Nerida offers the additional support of co-therapist Wally – her therapy dog (in training). Wally is usually present for all sessions unless requested otherwise. He brings his own unique forms of compassion, humour, comfort and support to each client.

Canine animal assisted therapy (AAT) has a growing evidence base for positive support of therapeutic change – strengthening rapport between client/therapist, providing more unconditional positive regard, reducing the flight/fight emotional response, and increasing activation of calming /bonding hormones and relaxation in distressed individuals.
